Ivory Wedding Shoes

Ivory wedding shoes
Well, you have chosen the most perfect wedding dress which your best friends and soon-to-be bridesmaids helped you to pick out but only after you tried on literally dozens of them and had all of the girls suffering whilst sitting on the inside of the shop window in the baking hot heat. The dress is beautiful, a gorgeous ivory with draping panels of stunningly soft material softly spilling into a mesmerizing pattern of swirls and rippling folds, an A-line gown with asymmetrical waist, embellished handmade flowers with corset closure and featuring Swarovski crystals…….

So now for the shoes!

It is usually traditional that a pair of ivory shoes will be worn to match the beautiful ivory dress that has taken you forever to choose….but sooo worth it! However the style of shoes is another decision that is bound to leave both yours and your poor friends heads in a spin.

The traditional high heel with either an open or closed toe is a classic wedding shoe style in either leather or a satin material, there are many other style of shoe that are traditionally thought of to match the wedding dress. These include shoes with ankle straps, the high heeled sandal, the platform along with the mule, flat styles and boots.

Some brides who want to look perfectly traditional in their long white dresses and even wedding dress trains but who wish to be a bit rebellious may choose to wear a pair of their favourite and most loved black Dr. Martin boots underneath and may even couple them with a pair of stripy tights!

If that is not really your style then many brides choose to have both theirs and their bridesmaids satin shoes dyed to the perfect match of their dresses. Some brides will also choose to dye their shoes a blue colour as their ‘something blue’ item, as is tradition. Dying wedding shoes really is a very popular thing to do now and many companies do it whether you are buying the shoes directly from them or you are sending the shoes that you have already purchased to a company specifically to be dyed.

Couples who are going abroad to get married quite often choose ivory coloured flip flops as their footwear of choice for their wedding day.Often they will choose matching flip flops, especially if they are having a beach wedding in a location that is very hot. The great thing with flip flops is that they are flat which means you don’t have to suffer with feeling uncomfortable on your special day with large heels. This is especially true if you are not used to walking with heels, the last thing you want is to have great big blisters on your feet before your honeymoon! The other great thing about flip flops is that they are cool on you feet, so if you are prone to sweaty feet, either with the heat…or with nerves, then they are a great footwear option for you!

Another option to dress your beautiful feet in for your wedding day is ivory coloured lace up, knee length boots. Again, I have seen people wearing Dr. Martins knee high lace up white boots which do look very cool when wearing a short length wedding dress with a long wedding train. If this is not your style, then there are many other ivory wedding boot out there in a more traditional style of a satin material, pointed toe, lace up front etc.It is a good idea to wear your chosen shoes or boots around the house a few times before the wedding day as it is best to stretch them so you are not in agony walking down the aisle!

Above all when choosing you wedding day footwear, make sure that they compliment your dress perfectly, whether that requires dying the shoes or not, and most importantly, make sure that you love love love them!!
