What to pack for a beachside wedding

Our guide to useful tips and failsafe wardrobe ideas for nuptuals by the sea

With the average UK wedding costing upwards of £10,000, it is little surprise that many brides and grooms to be are choosing to have a party overseas. Not only does this mean a cut-down on the numbers and certain costs (food, namely) – it can also be a great excuse for a holiday.

For those about to get married, an overseas wedding can be an attractive option as it also provides a perfect way to combine honeymoon and ceremony in one, saving all the organization and trouble of moving presents, outfits and hangers on before leaving for your time together.

A wedding by the sea is an excellent option for very close families and friends. It is customary for the guests to pay their own travel, but as usual the other benefits and events surrounding the wedding come in as part of the costing of the wedding party.

For both guests and brides, then, your selection of clothing to take on a wedding trip overseas is a totally different ball game. Usually entering into a more relaxed and informal mood than traditional church or registry office weddings, you’ll also be more likely to be in blazing sunshine…and feeling the sand or the sea tickling your toes.

So how to cut down costs on clothing so you can afford the flight and fun stuff at the hotel? Try some coordinating bikini and cover-up options from swimwear ranges, such as the bikinis from Next.  The Geri Halliwell designed range is a great example of the kind of affordable but not too boutique-y nor too ubiquitous look that works well for a beachside wedding.

When it comes to an outfit for the ceremony itself, again, as a bride, you may well still prefer to have a conventional white dress in a stiff fabric such as satin – but as a guest, there is a whole new world of opportunity opened to you; one in which floral patterns, shorter skirts and looser off-the shoulder dresses are completely acceptable.

Cream floral swimwear makes for one hell of a wedding!

Don’t Let Damaged Hair Ruin Your Big Day

Whether you want to sweep it up in an elegant hairstyle or let your locks flow free for a romantic silhouette, your wedding look is often defined by your hair. However, if your strands aren’t in the best shape due to dry hair, you may run the risk of ruining your whole wedding style. Here’s how to make sure that doesn’t happen.

What causes dry hair?

We know that dry hair can cause problems from root to tip, including dandruff and split ends that can ruin a wedding hair style. However, how did your hair get so dry in the first place? That’s a little more complicated to explain.
Your hair could be dry through no fault of your own. This is because natural elements play a large role in drying out hair. In the summer, harsher UV rays from more direct exposure to the sun can damage hair. However, damaged hair can also occur during winter as well. Extremely cold temperatures can make hair strands more brittle, and the problem can be aggravated if you wear wool or cotton hats and scarves because these fabrics can steal the little moisture that your hair was able to retain.

How can I make sure my hair is healthy on my wedding day?

If you’re preparing for a perfect wedding day hair style, it is best to start early. This is because a trim of your ends is usually necessary to remove dead ends. Not only will this make your hair look better when styled, but it will also help it to grow more quickly, which is good news for brides who desire a more traditional look.
Once you have cleaned up your ends, the next step is to start an intense moisturising routine for your hair that may include regular conditioners formulated for daily use, as well as leave-in conditioners and deep conditioners. A weekly conditioner, like John Frieda Full Repair Deep Conditioner, will ensure that your hair is getting maximum exposure to rich ingredients like Inca Inchi Oil that work to restore long-term moisture, and a leave-in conditioner can help protect your hair from heat when blow drying.
A regular conditioner is great for everyday use, but there are also some unconventional ways to use it to repair your dry hair. For example, you may want to shampoo your hair less frequently because many cleansers contain drying ingredients like sulphate. If you choose to go this route, “co-washing” with just a conditioner on days that you don’t shampoo can help gently remove oil and dirt from your scalp. Also, you can rub a small drop of conditioner in between hands and distribute through just your ends once your hair is dry to seal split ends.
If you’re preparing for wedding hair, you may also be preparing to fit into the wedding dress of your choice. For women who are aiming to do both, a change in diet be a great help. This is because sometimes dry hair is a result of malnourishment; your body uses the vitamins and proteins that you get through food to keep your hair strong and shiny as well as to make it grow faster. Enriching your meals with nutrient-rich foods like avocado, nuts, eggs, and olive oil will make sure that your entire body gets the very best fuel to continue its daily processes, which includes growing your hair. This kind of diet is excellent for getting in shape, as well.
Ultimately, there is no quick route to restoring dry hair before a wedding, but if you take these steps, you will start to see an improvement little by little. And just like your pending nuptials, a healthy hair routine is something that you can carry with you for life.

What your wedding cards say about you

You’re about to start a new life together, and the very first representation of yourselves as a couple that the world will see are your wedding invitation. Should yours be elegant and formal? Or fun and whimsical? Descriptive and exact? Or brief and to the point? These are all questions that engaged couples grapple with when sending wedding cards for their special day. Here, we offer some tips on how to get this detail right so that you can continue planning your vows without worry.

Do some research.

Before you decide on any wedding invitations, use the Internet as a resource to find unique, sophisticated, and fun examples of invites that other couples used. You may not like every element of a particular invitation, but there’s a chance that you will find details that you either really like or that give you an idea of what you don’t want on your own invitations. You can even keep an inspiration board so that you can pull all of those must-have elements together when it is time to design your own personalised wedding cards.

Colour, font, and word choice.

When you’re ready to dive into the process of creating your invites, there are key elements that everyone should consider. Colour, for example, is one of the dominant factors that you will need to determine. Most times, wedding cards correspond with the colour scheme of the wedding. However, if you are unsure what colours you will choose for your wedding day, a traditional choice that fits most wedding styles is the linked hearts invitation printed on pearl-inspired card stock. The off-white invitation will ensure that you still have a blank canvas from which to create the wedding of your dreams, colour and all.
One decision that many couples are surprised to find themselves making is the type of font that they will use on their invitations. Gone are the days when the only options are elaborate, curly typeface that may be too formal for the theme of your wedding. If you’re planning a fresh and modern wedding ceremony, venture into the world of san serif typefaces and modern serifs. However, if you want to remain traditional, script fonts are still an excellent choice.
Just like colour and font should correspond with the style of your wedding, so should your word choice. Must-have elements for a wedding invitation include the full names of both the bride and the groom, as well as the names of the hosts of the celebration. Of course, you will also want to list the date, time, and site of the ceremony. You should let your guest know as well where the reception will be held. These details can be expressed very formally if you are having an elegant affair, but it is okay to include them in a straight-forward format if your wedding will be more laid-back. Also, don’t forget to include how the guests should RSVP.

The extras

One of the fun parts of getting married in the digital age is being able to add extras to your personalised cards. For example, you may want to mail a formal invitation but also send an email to all of the invitees with engagement photos. Or you could enclose a video disc with each invitation that shows a special message recorded by you and your partner when played. The more unique your invitations are, the more excited your guests will become about being in attendance on your special day, so don’t be afraid to make them your own.

Kate Middletons wedding dress competes for Design of the Year

budget wedding dresses royal wedding dress Kate Middleton’s wedding dress, designed by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen is competing with other designs including the Olympic torch for the annual awards from the Design Museum.

The dress which was long sleeved, made from white and ivory satin gazar material had a two meter train and complemented Kate’s figure beautifully. The individual flowers were hand cut and made from lace into the pattern of the four symbolic flowers representing England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Kate’s stunning wedding dress will be competing against several other designs although we do not think this should be too much of a problem as it has been said that the Olympic torch is like an “ice cream cone” or a “cheese grater” so we don’t think it will cause too much of a threat!

The winner of the Design Museum’s “Design of the Year” award will be announced on April 24.

Singer Sinead O’Connor cancels divorce from new husband

Sinead O’Connor married her new husband in a drive through wedding in a las Vegas chapel, the same one in which Elvis Presley and Britney Spears had previously wed.

Only 16 days into her new marriage, O’connor who has four children, tweeted on a certain social network that the marriage had ended due to differences with her new hubby’s family which put pressure on the relationship along with only being together for 3 months before the pair decided on tying the knot. O’Connor also admitted to scaring her new husband by searching for drugs around Las Vegas only hours after the ceremony.

Regardless of these difficulties, the pair seem to have ironed out the problems enough to give their relationship another go by going back to a girlfriend/boyfriend relationship as opposed to a husband /wife one.
