How long have men’s plain wedding rings been common and in fashion? The use of men’s traditional wedding rings dates back to the end of the Second World War. Oh, they gave their wives rings, fancy gold bands that might have jewels encrusted, but as for themselves, there was no visible plain wedding rings as denotation of marriage. These days, almost all men sport wedding rings.
Gold is the traditionally preferred material for men’s wedding bands. Mens wedding rings are typically simple bands fashioned out of pure gold.
It has been seen that many couples purchase similar bands, choosing the style that suits both. But in the last few decades, some subtle and not so subtle changes have taken place, & on any given day you might spot some gold mens wedding rings, and some wedding rings made up of other materials, as well. In general, both the bride and the groom do the selection and purchase together. Traditional gold, white gold, platinum, and titanium are good metals for daily wear as they do not damage easily. 9, 14 or 24 carat gold can be used for a man’s wedding band.
