Never a Better Time to Buy Fine Art Prints and Posters

The digital revolution has impacted on all those industries that manufacture physical products that can be digitized. So traditional photographic film is now replaced by a sensor in the digital camera, vinyl music albums are replaced by MP3 files, and in the place of bulky video tapes we now have DVDs and wmv or mpg files – to name just a few examples.

In the process of this revolution, entire skill sets have been wiped out and many jobs lost. This is particularly so in the printing industry where digitization has made redundant highly skilled artisans like typesetters and compositors, their jobs taken over by graphic designers using computers and desktop publishing software.

At the same time digital printing processes have brought a significant drop in the price of art and photographic reproductions, mainly because it’s now become cost-effective to print small quantities. You don’t have to produce thousands of the same product to bring down the cost per unit.

While prices have dropped, the quality of the prints has simultaneously improved because of improved print technology. Sophisticated inkjet printers using an array of colors – not just the traditional cyan, magenta, yellow, and black inks – can produce vivid, pure colors and subtle tones previously only achievable with machinery costing hundreds of time more.

This means the average person now has access to a massive selection of fine art prints and posters, reproduced from originals by many of the world’s leading artists – all at affordable prices. By using some basic interior design principals, combined with tasteful selecting of frames and colors, virtually anyone can decorate a home or office to quite stunning effect without breaking the bank.

And, if you’re simply looking for eye-catching, colorful posters to decorate a dorm or pub, the possibilities are endless. If you’re a movie buff, you can choose old movie posters featuring timeless classics like Casablanca and Gone With The Wind, to modern cult movies and latest releases.

Al Pacino fans are spoilt for choice, with options that include a wide selection of Scarface posters graphically depicting Pacino’s memorable role as mobster Tony “Scarface” Montana.

For the sports fan, there is a similarly huge selection of outstanding sports prints and posters, many featuring defining moments in sporting history, while others acknowledge the sporting greats who’ve left an indelible impression on their fans, such as Michael Jordan posters and photographs of Muhammad Ali in action.

There has never been a better time to decorate your walls with fine art prints and posters, digitally printed on good quality papers using archival inks. Whatever your interest or passion, you’re bound to find something that appeals – and at a price that’ll leave a smile on your face.

My Mobile Insurance Really Was a Good Choice

Being of sound mind and body, I hope! I decided to purchase a mobile phone for my 12 year old. I know…but at least this way, I can keep tabs on him for a bit. At least that is my intention. Needless to say, mobile phone insurance will be a necessity. Gregory has not always been the most responsible of sons.

The astounding joy, he displayed, when I presented this gift to him was very satisfying. The first rule, however, and the reason for getting the phone to begin with, was for him to let me, or his father know, where he was going and with whom he was going with. Being a pre-teen was a difficult year and the beginning of showing his independents.

No, mom, I don’t want to go to the mall with you. I am going with my friends. Mom, no one hangs out with their parents and so on and so forth. Difficult…for whom? Me the Parent or my child? So a new era begins. Constant worry! Whatever, in heavens name, made me want to be a parent?

I did not purchase mobile phone insurance for Gregory’s phone with the same company I have our mobile’s phones from. They have the best and most complete coverage and are the least expensive, but they are not competitive on insurance. The other companies I had looked into were much more expensive and the cover was inadequate, so I chose Supercover Mobile Phone Insurance.

For several weeks things seemed to be okay. Gregory displayed a hereto unknown ability towards responsibility and still had his phone.

Oops, I spoke to soon, Gregory came through the front door and it seems he sheepishly walked towards me. I think I could have read his mind, for I immediately knew something was wrong and it had to do with his mobile phone.

They had stopped at the food mart, in the shopping centre and Gregory had lent the phone to his friend to make a call. Unfortunately, when they left the mall, his friend left the phone on the table. When they went back to get, it was gone. Someone had taken it.

I immediately called the mobile phone insurance company and put in a claim. I told them what had happened. The agent assured me that everything would be taken care of and not to worry. It was in less than 48 hours. Old account cancelled and new phone on the way. Not only are they the least expensive, the claim was taken care of hassle free.

Basement Waterproofing Materials and Uses

Materials used to waterproof basements can differ a lot in their forms and applications. Some will be available to the public and some may only be available to the trade. Let’s take a look at what is around and how you can apply it to your home situation.

Basically, you need to keep in mind whre you reside and the amount of water that is present. Materials that you can use will be influenced by the information you collect.

When most people look for basement waterproofing products they usually think of simple sealants. In other words, they have a basement that has already had some form of waterproofing applied to it and are looking to patch small damp areas up. RadonSeal being one of the top-end sealants treats poured concrete, mortar in block walls or stone foundations and concrete or cinder blocks.

You need to treat the whole basement, walls and floor, otherwise it’s likely the water will simply find a way around the sealant. The product has a 20-year limited guarantee. There is only one issue here and that is that the sealant, (not only this one specifically, but with all sealants), will only prevent water seepage on the inside skin of the basement. Putting this another way, there can be a large quantity of fluid pushing against and through the materials from which the cellar walls are constructed.

You may have to think of other alternatives if you have breaks in the wall. If your walls are plaster, then you can simply replace the plaster coating. All you need to do is chip away any loose material from around the crack and then fill the area back up with plaster.

One other option which is available is to use a stitching material. These consist of metal staples which are literally stapled across the cracks, thus preventing or limiting further movement. Any type of cement that is not prone to shrinkage can then be used to fill up any cracks.

More serious cracks in the walls or the floor of the basement can be filled with Gunite, a form of concrete that is sprayed on. You’ll need special spraying equipment to do this which you can hire. The mixture ratio must be correct for the spray to fill any cracks and leave a smooth finish. But it is still a good choice, because it adhere to most surfaces.

Ultimately, it must be remembered that basement waterproofing materials are not the final, only or the best solutions. You must see to it that there is minimal water around the basement perimeter.

So also consider:

  • - maintaining rain gutters that are in excellent shape.
  •

  • - sloping the ground away from the foundation of the house
  •

  • - grass can be seeded around the foundations once the flower beds, bushes and trees have been removed
  •

  • - filling up driveway cracks
  •

  • - installing curtain drains to take surface water away from the house.
  •

  • - you should install dry wells for rainwater downspouts no more than 10 feet from your home.
  •

  • - placing a sump pump or pumps into service.
  •

  • - utilizing inside channels to gather water oozing through the basement walls and course it to a floor pipe
  •
